Are your bones ageing faster than you are?

Are your bones ageing faster than you are?

Skin and hair get all the attention, but your skeleton is quietly ageing too. Here's how to notice — and slow — the process.

Bone mass typically peaks in our late twenties. From there, everyone loses bone gradually — but for some people the decline accelerates well before it should, driven by hormones, nutrition, medication or inactivity.

Signs your bones may be ahead of schedule

  • Loss of height
  • Fractures from low-impact events
  • Persistent back pain without clear cause
  • Poor posture that wasn't there before

How to slow it down

A combination of strength training, daily weight-bearing movement, adequate protein and vitamin D, and — where suitable — a daily low-intensity vibration session can meaningfully change the trajectory.
